My name is Marguerite Masciarelli, a.k.a. Marcia Mascia, and I’m a 27-year-old artist. I grew up in Lyon in a large family with a keen interest in art, kitsch and resourcefulness : a mother who collected eggcups, a father who tinkered with jigsaw furniture, and older brothers and sisters drawn to theatre, documentary film, photography, woodturning and insurance.

As for me, in 2017 I decided to throw myself wholeheartedly into the rigours of graphic design, before seeking greater flexibility and plastic exploration at Fine Arts in 2021. These years of study didn’t go without a hitch. They were punctuated by the deaths of close family and friends, the taming of my depression, but also a growing interest in feminist issues and some strong friendships. During my course in image and storytelling, I did an Erasmus in Krakow. This period was the catalyst for all these questions and a turning point in my personal and professional life.

Since then, I’ve been working to tell the stories of people’s lives : my own and those of my loved ones. In 2024, I moved back to Besançon, my city at heart, from where I continue to steer my own course.

My approach to graphic design is one of solidarity and commitment : it’s important for me to participate in my own way in the transmission of stories and to work with and for people. Most of my projects are based on real, intimate or personal situations, and my work is enriched by my experiments with other media such as stamp printing, linocut, photography, typography, audio editing, etc.

I want to put my skills at the service of projects that match my values: intersectional feminism, gender and sexuality issues, mental health, the notion of intimacy, the transmission of speech and knowledge for all, ecological commitment, and so on. My aim is to pass on my own stories and those of those around me, and at the same time to raise awarness and educate viewers and readers about these fragments of life.
